AMARILLO -- Amarillo’s newest hotel, the Courtyard by Marriott at the Historic Fisk Building, continued its soft opening Saturday night into Sunday with a celebratory fundraiser for Center City Amarillo and overnight stay to showcase the state-of-the-art hostelry’s amenities.
Center City’s supporters, including its own board members as well as two city commissioners, board representatives of the Tax Increment Investment Zone and Downtown Amarillo Inc., crowded the sleek new lobby and Bistro snack bar for a toast to the opening the 107-room facility carved out of the historic office building.
“Center City is thrilled because for the past six years we have said, ‘Downtown is a place to live, work, play, learn and worship,’” said Center City Executive Director Beth Duke. “Now downtown is a place to stay.”
