AMARILLO -- The Amarillo City Commission opened the door Tuesday to shrinking the scope of urban design standards governing downtown properties.
Commissioners repeatedly have been battered by a grassroots group determined to have their residential neighborhoods omitted from the urban design standards zoning ordinance, which the group believes tramples property rights.
So the commission will conduct a public hearing next Tuesday that could lead to changes in the scope of the urban design standard ordinance adopted in July. (
